The Volume of Meat Production around the World

Livestock is one of the main components in the agricultural sectors in many countries of the world and contributes significantly to increasing the gross domestic product. In addition to this, it increases economic growth in the country.

United States

America is the first country in the world to produce meat. The United States of America’s meat production was estimated at 12.1 million during 2017, and each year the volume of production increases in greater quantities than that. The country contributes to 19.8% of the global total production of meat.

Brazil

Brazil is ranked second in the production of livestock, and its production is estimated at 9,5 million tons annually, but Brazil surpasses America in terms of exports, because 90 percent goes to domestic consumption, while Brazil exports 2 million tons annually, compared to America exports one tons annually and Brazil contributes by 15,5% of global meat production.

European Union

European countries are among the most meat-producing countries. Annual production of 8 million tons annually and contributes to 13% of global meat production. Therefore, the European Union is considered a third country after the United States and Brazil.

China

China is one of the meat-producing countries, and the quantities produced for the year 2017 amounted to 7 million tons. China contributes 11.5% of the world’s meat production, and this proportion is expected to increase in the coming years, especially in 2025.

India

India ranks fifth in the ranking of the countries producing livestock. India’s meat production is estimated at 4.5 million tons annually during 2017, and it contributes 7% of the world’s livestock production.

Argentina

Argentina became one of the producing countries and managed to outpace many countries in a short time, and produces 3 million tons of livestock annually, and this percentage is estimated at 4.5% of the world meat production.

Australia

Australia produces meat from 200 years ago and follows a unique environmental production system to produce livestock and meat well. Australia ranks seventh in the world in meat production, and in 2017 2.5 million tons were produced annually, representing 4 percent of global meat production.

Mexico

Mexico is a meat-producing country in the first place, and it is very interested in this sector, as it produces 2 million tons annually and there are statistics that say more than 3 million tons, and it constitutes 3.5% of the global production of livestock.

Pakistan

The volume of Pakistani meat production is 2 million tons annually, and it contributes to 3% of global meat production. The livestock ratio is 11% of the gross domestic agricultural production in Pakistan.

Turkey

Turkey is one of the tenth countries with the level of meat production and produces about 1.8 million tons annually and it is possible to increase in the coming years because Turkey has become one of the big countries producing a lot of huge animal wealth, and contributes 3% of global meat production.
